On To The Next
This is going to be long. I have a lot to say. So, if you’re not interested in reading all of it (and I understand), here’s the TL;DR version: This year changed my life, and I can’t wait for next year! If you want to know how and why, keep reading:
Also, for the first time, I’m admitting out loud what my starting and current weights are. Be gentle.

It's Official!
I’m a 5k runner now! More to come, I need to get my thoughts in order.
Right now there’s only one thought: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK
It’s 7:42 a.m.
At 10:00 a.m. the gun will go off in my first official 5k.
WHAT?

How Did That Happen?
In the words of my son: HOWY CWAP.
I just realized that tonight’s run will be my last until my 5k on Saturday.
My first official 5k is in 3 days.
I’m freaking out.

Kids, Christmas, and Space Combat
Where have I been the past few days? Mostly one of these places:
Playing with my kids
Cleaning and/or cooking
Doing various Christmas-assorted tasks (and I’m still not done shopping…)
Playing SWTOR
Running
That’s it. That’s what I’m doing. I’ve run two 3-milers this week, which is a lot for me. My first official 5k is in 2 weeks (ACK!). I also hit 70...

Calories & Christmas Trees
Man, I had a nonstop day today. Church in the morning, lunch with the kidlings at home while my hubby ran out to a gun show, a 3.1 mile run (which is still a long run for me), a trip to the store, then went and cooked dinner at my mother-in-law’s and put up her Christmas tree.
It was a great day, it really was! Bonus: I plugged in my Bodybugg, and it says I’ll have burned over 3600...

YAY, Rudolph!
We don’t have cable, and Netflix has been kinda lackluster in the Christmas-movies-for-kids department. I checked local schedules, and Rudolph is coming on CBS at 8! Both of the kids took naps and one is even already bathed, so they can stay up to watch it!
Christmas is my favorite holiday. I can’t help it. :-D
(I will not be indulging in my former Christmas movie snacks, which...

Spluuuurge Night!
Tonight our church had “Parents Night Out,” which means they watch the kids while we run away screaming like high schoolers.
We went to the shooting range (where my husband works on weekends) for a while, and I’m proud to say even after months with no practice, I’m still a good shot.
His buddies at the range invited us out to dinner, so we joined them for a splurgerific...

Love to Read!
Yesterday I volunteered to read to my daughter’s first grade class, and I had a lot of fun! I read this book:
which I love, because it’s a poetic book, and I don’t mean that cheap, forced rhyme you see in the Dollar Store. It’s a lot of fun to read, and the kids were great listeners!
I love to read, and I especially love to read out loud. I like the way the words feel...

Most Unlikely Conversation EVER
This morning on my way back home from dropping my daughter off at school, I heard an ad on the radio. I almost fell out of my seat, which might explain why the guy in front of me looked so panicked…
The award for most unlikely conversation goes to this commercial. I’m doing this from memory, but it should be darn close:
Son, on the phone: Hi, Mom!
Mom: Hi, son! Are you taking care...

My Little Runner Boy
My son is 3-years-old and one of the sweetest boys you’ll ever meet. He’s also autistic, officially diagnosed just over a year ago.
While all autistics have some things in common (the biggest being a communication barrier), all are just people with different needs and desires from one to the next.
One of my son’s needs is to feel his legs in space. He has a problem with...

How Bad Do You Want It? →
While you watch and listen to this, turn down the money part in your head think about your personal goal: your next weight-loss goal, the next amount you want to be able to lift, the next running milestone you want to make.
Now, how bad do you want it?

I Found It
After yesterday’s post about not knowing what direction to take fashion-wise when I’m daydreaming about my goal weight, I scoured the internet for ideas. I looked at fashion websites (way too many ruffles and fuss for my taste, plus I don’t ever want to be THAT skinny—holy cow, dude. I’ll keep my hips, kthnx). Then I went to stores, but I was looking for outfit ideas,...

What's a "Fashion?"
I wanted to look at some clothes that are goal-like clothes, the things I want to wear when I’m out of plus sizes. Here’s the problem: I don’t know what I want to wear! I have no idea what might look good on me at that size, and I really don’t know what to look for.
In plus sizes, fashion was easy: I wore what fit and didn’t make me look like a toad. I’ve never...

Phew
Not my fastest run—in fact, my slowest in a month—but considering I didn’t want to go out there at all, I’ll take it. Thanks for the words of encouragement, guys. You rock!
Besides, I have my first official 5k in 29 days (wait, really?!) and I’m not going to get prepared for it by playing World of Warcraft.
However, let me just say that my alt DK looks awesome now....

Two More!
Finally got back down to my pre-Thanksgiving weight a few days ago and then lost two additional pounds this morning!
I’m now at a total of 67 pounds lost.
I’m thinking when I hit 75 pounds lost I’ll finally admit to tumblr and everyone else just how high my starting weight really was.
Train keeps on rollin’, baby! :-D

The 19 Worst Breakfasts →
I used to eat those sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits all the time, and when I was a teenager we’d go to a Denny’s-like restaurant and order something similar to that scramble every week.
Is it really any wonder I am where I am?
Keep this list in mind next time you go out for breakfast!

Oh, Hi There, Muscles!
Yesterday I added burpees to my strength training for the first time. Hankering for something different, I did a pyramid countdown as part of my workout with kettlebell swings, burpees, and planks.
Let me just take a second to say that I STILL giggle inside every time I say “burpees.” I’m sorry, I’m immature and it’s terrible, but c’mon. Burpees?! ROFL.
Today,...

As Long As It Takes
My husband and I were talking about this new found revelation we’ve had about what lifestyle change really means. You can see my take here; this is Darrell’s take!
“As Long As It Takes”
The other day I was looking at a post from Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper on Facebook. The post was showcasing a person who lost quite a bit of weight and looked like they literally...

Bigger Than My Weight Loss
If I said I didn’t think about losing weight every day, that would absolutely be a lie. I do. Every time I look in the mirror and see my brand new waist, every time I discover a muscle I didn’t know I had (forearm muscles? I have those? Who even knew?), every time I go shopping and eye the size 10/12 I want to fit into, I think about it. When I’m running, when I’m planning...
